How to Earn Money Online for Beginners

My name is Cade and I started trying to make money online in February of 2009 when I joined The Keyword Academy for $600 dollars. Back then there wasn’t the offer of paying $1 dollar for you first month and $33 dollars a month after that. Believe me, I wish I would have been able to join for $1 dollar! But, I have earned that $600 bucks back and much more so I am not complaining.

I will give you a quick rundown on TKA here. It is a website that teaches people how to make money online and was created by Courtney Tuttle and Mark Butler from Utah. They are gurus in the MMO niche and have taught thousands of people how to earn extra money online. They have video tutorials that show you step by step how to create your first website using HostGator from scratch. They then focus on SEO (search engine optimization) techniques that will make your new website rank in the search engines so that you can increase traffic to your website and start earning some money.

I decided I wanted to earn money online with the keyword academy after a friend of mine bought the program and started telling me about it. I went home, paid the $600 dollars, and started watching all of the video tutorials. I was blown away with amazement and excitement. I had never been so excited to watch 4 hours of educational videos.

To let you know a little about me, I graduated from college last year and figured there would be great paying jobs for me because I had a bachelors degree. I quickly found that not to be the case and I was devastated. Did I just waste 4 years of my life and a lot of money on an education that isn’t going to get me a great job? That is one reason why I could justify spending 600 dollars on an education that seemed like it would profit me in the long run.  This is not a scam like some kind of MLM such as Market Mover Trading, this stuff works if you are willing to work.

My First Website

So after watching the videos I was ready to set up my first site. Remember that I am not computer savvy and had never read one thing about making money online before I signed up for the Keyword Academy. It turns out that TKA was the perfect guide for beginners on how to get a website up and running. So I went over to Godaddy and purchased my first domain name after learning the key points on how to chose a good SEO friendly URL. Then I went on over to HostGator and signed up for my hosting account. I then pointed the site at the hosting account and my site was live!

I’m not going to lie to you, this first I site I built turned out to be kind of a dud. I spent a lot of time on it because it was my first site and I was still learning the ropes. I had to still learn a few things and boy did I learn a ton from that first site. I learned a lot of things not to do and a lot things I could do more of. The fact is that it is now October and that first site cost 8 dollars to buy the domain name and has made me about 100 dollars over the past 9 months. I would consider that a decent site if I had only spent a couple of hours on it, but I spent a lot of hours on it. But I had to spend that time learning somewhere and it makes me happy that it profited me a little bit.

Since that first site roughly 9 months ago I have created 35 sites from scratch, some of them bring in a lot of money, some bring in no money and some make decent money. I am true believer in the 80/20 rule. That’s to say that 20% of your sites will bring in 80% of your money. I have seen that to be the case with my sites and that is a great reason why you should never only build 1 or 2 sites.

That is something they teach in TKA and for that reason I bought 6 sites the week after I bought my first one and I am very glad I did. But I didn’t stop there, I bought 6 sites each month for the first few months and my best performing site was a site I bought 3 months into the program. If I would have only bought the first 6 sites, I would not be successful enough to do internet marketing as my only job.

I started to see a little money come in the second month, and by a little money I mean like 15 dollars in the second month. The first time I saw that I had money in my adsense account I was amazed. It was the best 20 cents I had ever earned. It still thrills me to see money come in on every one of my sites.

I can see now why 99% of people that try to make money online never succeed. There are so many scams that say they are there to help you and you end up paying a ton of money and you make none in return. I could have been one of those suckers if Court and Mark were dishonest, but they aren’t and they are responsible for me making money from my websites today.

The reason that I say extra is because at first you won’t be able to make enough money online to support yourself. But learning how to earn extra money online is something that everyone can do and you can quickly move on to making enough money to support yourself.

The main thing you need to earn money is the traffic. If you don’t have people visiting your site you won’t make any money. You have to think about internet marketing the same way you would look at marketing for an actual business. If you have a great store you won’t make money if people don’t know about it.

So in order to get people to your site you need to rank in Google for certain keywords. You need to research which keywords are searched for most and target those words. You can use the Google keyword tool to find how many searches words get each month.

Next you need to make sure you get on the first page for that keyword. You won’t get traffic to your website if you are on the second page or worse. So you have to be in the top 10 to make money. The important thing now is knowing how to increase web traffic. Once you increase traffic to your website you will see that money will start to come in.

The keyword academy is a great place to learn how to rank your site higher in Google and other search engines. Learning SEO (search engine optimization) is one of the most important things you can do if you have an online business. Don’t be one of the people that makes a website only to realize that nobody ever visits it.
